The rope bridge across the creek at Pook’s Hill was first put in; it must have been at least 10 years ago; when Matt was visiting from the UK. Since then it has gone though many adaptations and versions when different parts of the structure decay in the forest heat and humidity. This time a large Sapodilla or Chicle tree (Manilkara sp.) was inspected, but it was decided that this valuable hardwood timber tree was a bit over kill for fixing the small creek crossing. Instead a 40 foot Bayleaf Palm (Sabal morrisiana) was split in half and used to once again making the crossing possible.
